Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is a common sleep disorder, and can be incredibly dangerous to your health and wellbeing. At the office of Janette Carroll, DDS, we are committed to helping you manage this condition so that you can rest better at night and enjoy a healthier life. We offer several oral appliances, including MicrO2® and the DNA Appliance® (Daytime Nighttime Appliance), to treat sleep apnea and improve your health. Many patients who suffer from OSA are unable to tolerate CPAP treatment. Oral appliance therapy is an alternative solution to resolve your difficulties with sleeping, and to help you breathe easier. When you visit our office, Dr. Janette Carroll will work with you to determine which oral appliance will be most beneficial for you.

MicrO2® Appliance
MicrO2 is an oral appliance that helps treat sleep apnea by advancing your lower jaw. By holding the lower jaw in a slightly forward position, it moves the throat tissues away from the back of your throat and provides you with more tongue space, which in turn keeps your airways open to reduce snoring and OSA. Your MicrO2 device is custom-made to fit your mouth perfectly. It consists of two parts – one that fits over the upper teeth and one for the lower teeth. While this appliance may seem complicated at first glance, it is actually very easy to use, and features an adjustment method similar to changing orthodontic aligners.

DNA Appliance® (Daytime Nighttime Appliance)
The DNA Appliance works to naturally, permanently, and non-surgically reconstruct your airway by stimulating new bone growth in your mouth. This appliance works by widening the arch and altering the shape of your mouth to improve your ability to breath. The DNA Appliance gently expands the upper arch, which increases the size of the nasal cavity, moves the lower jaw forward into a more natural position, and pulls the tongue and soft tissues forward, all of which help to keep your airways open and greatly improve your ability to breathe.
